[Announcement] Suggested Improvement Idea

A 'Suggested Improvement Idea' document has been submitted to Council. Council is now discussing these ideas with the intention on acting on as many as possible as soon as possible.

Progress had already been made in this area with some recent announcements representing action generated from member discussion about topics, and Council is close to implementing periodic reports about Council activity also.

A big thanks to Adi and Rosalyn J for being proactive in generating this document, which looks like it involved going through all the relevant forum threads and creating an ordered compilation of the issues raised with suggested courses of action!! A big thank you also to MadHatter who submitting a proposal to receive and handle complaints which is also being considered within Council!!

This thread is to keep members in the loop and could be a good place for me to post updates of progress :side:

Well, here is the thing...

As we (everyone) can see in the Clergy/Guide thread, many people make for many ideas...

We (Council) have many of the same ideas, there are a finite number of ways a change could happen, and we acknowledge we may not get them all, BUT, we will take the easiest, and most direct out of the equation, by discussion things in a small circle, first...

This announcement was suggested to let people know that "no one is being dismissed", and that "council is listening"...

We have a tentative plan to let folks know what Council is up to monthly...

However, this wont happen until around the 15th of May before the first 'announcemet' gets made...

So, a small post was suggested, just to let you all know there is progress...

In the last spin-off thread, it was still suggested that Council 'wasnt listening and other, lessor important things had taken precedence over the membership concerns...

And, unfortunately, I had to delete the last post in it, as it happened after I locked it...

Akkarin had posted a list of recent time Council had acted on member concerns, and their results...

Editted a bit, to only reflect the things that have been addressed, and not his replies to the OP of that thread...

What about someone suggesting we should add Listening to the IP? We addressed that. (though I can't see where the announcement is)

What about the couple of people who complained about copyright at the Temple. We addressed that. (And here)

What about people making suggestions to the FAQ. There is a thread for that.

What about people saying it is hard to find policies and such. We addressed that.

One of our senior members complained about the way we handled moderation. We are changing moderation rules to reflect this.

Someone sent in a load of links to online libraries and such. We added a dedicated article including them.

People had issue with taking the Simple Oath. We addressed that.

As a community we will do our best to address your concerns and take on board your views, but no one site may offer you exactly what you are looking for. If you'd feel more comfortable elsewhere maybe one of the other Jedi communities would correspond more to your needs.

And, on a more personal note from me, In my opinion, I found it humorous, (for I feel I have a pretty good sense of humor), and not a bit dismissive, however, some, (more sensitive members? At least more sensitve than myself...) found this dismissive, and now another piece of our history is removed... Kana was very active when I joined, he has medical issues, and cannot come online as much anymore...

I say this, to let you know that we dont always agree with the things the membership wants, not a single one of Council was offended... Just as you all dont agree with us on some decisions we implement...
