Fake pity, morality policing and mock interrogation are just a few tell-tale indicators.

Is it possible for this topic to be a sticky?

The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

Off topic, but can we go through the Stickies with a critical eye and decide what really needs to be stickied?

It's two buses and a train ride down the page for me to get to the "Active" threads around here.

This thread, for example: Fantastically interesting and I hope a source of much discussion and thought, but it's not temple doctrine or tied to the conduct and management of the forum - So what gives it Sticky status?

Me asking for it, of course :evil:

Seriously, you make a good point. I would suggest we have ONE thread on critical thinking which would be sticked and locked, and where this kind of content could be added as a new post in the same thread by Admins, as it pertains to the issue of critical thinking. Then people can read through it all from various perspectives.

I believe this is the only stickied topic in Open Discussions but tell me if I'm wrong. It won't be stuck forever. A week to 10 days or so.

This menu line:

Index - Recent Topics - New Topic - No Replies - My Topics - Profile - Help - Search

Recent Topics should show only the topics that are either new or recently replied too. That might be a good way to skip over old inactive things.

I must see something different to you.

I have the following cluttering up the top when I open Open Discussions:

Bully Bingo: 52 Signs Someone Will Say Anything to Win an Argument
The value of "time in the community"(1 NEW)
What Are You Listening To Right Now?(41 NEW)
Songs that have Jedi Teachings, etc...(2 NEW)
[Split off] Jedi for political office?
The Imperishable Gem(2 NEW)
From time to time a poem
What are you reading right now?
Question of the Day
A shot in the arm and the next 24 hours...
From a corner of the library ...
IP discussion area
UNDER 18s PLEASE READ

I've always assumed they've clung to the top because they are "Stickies"

Great Caesar's Ghost! They are stuck. I see how to tell at a glance now. Thank you very much for pointing this out. I'll get busy unsticking most of them.

There's something missing from the opening post: ever increasingly ridiculous examples. I had a 'discussion' with a client recently who did not like that I would not budge on something so he came up with ever more ridiculous and outlandish reasons of why I was wrong until we were in the territory of the absurd.

It won't let me have a blank signature ...
