RIP Carrie Fisher

May the Force be with her family. She will be missed.

For many of us, she was among the first examples of what a hero could look like. She helped carve out the myth by which we pursue heroism. We have a great deal for which to thank her and a great life to celebrate.

I woke to hear this news. After hearing of her heart attack on Xmas eve, I have spent the last couple days quietly asking the Force to heal her. Apparently, it wanted her back.
Thank you, Carrie Fisher. You were one of a kind. Your humour and quirkiness set you apart. Your strength was an inspiration to all girls and women everywhere.
The best thing I read today about Carrie so far today: she saw no one was coming to save the princess, so she f***ing saved herself.
May the Force be with you, your Highness.

She lived her life unapologetically. She was outspoken and brash... and honest. She was my, like so many other, first childhood crush. I missed my chance to meet her this past summer, which saddens me. But I have been trying to console my friends by reminding them that she has returned to the Force, and there is no need to grieve. She will live on within each of us so long as we remember her.
