People are complicated.
geometric sequencing was created by OB1Shinobi
im studying for placement exams and ive encounterd geometric sequencing and i thought "this is the dumbest thing ever to expect anyone to just have to know how to do"
i was just curious if anyone could explain to me what its actually used for
i expect its important to somebody i just dont quite see who

What do you mean by geometric sequency?
Sacred geometry?
Or more the practical use?
Or something else?

If you mean geometric progressions, I think I can help with that though the questions you posed are ultimately irrelevant for understanding the concept since math, being an outgrowth of logic, needs not necessarily have practical application in all of its things.
But of course the geometric sequence, again, if that is what you mean, does have uses. First, it is useful to estimate other progressions by comparison, and I suppose that it can be useful to simplify models of exponential growth and decay, which, technically, would again just be a special case of sequence analysis in general. Many functions that map the set of natural integers to a field can be expressed as a sequence and insight into one thusly implies some insight into the other...
Of course, one would have to interpolate values if the function maps from an uncountably infinite set, but a sequence would still grant some useful information. Geometric progressions are no exception to that.
Now maybe I totally misunderstood what this is all about...

I am curious about wich mathematic or geometry don't have practical applications?

2, 6, 18, 54
3 is the unseen number
2×3 = 6
6×3 =18
18×3 = 54
geometric progression,yes
thanks gisteron
i appreciate your intelligence!

Pattern recognition is pretty useful anywhere, as understanding it's structure means you can predict with a measure of accuracy.

one of my theories on precognition is that an individual utilizes pattern recognition at a subconscious level and since they aren't consciously doing it it gives the impression of being psychic...

well then this is right up your alley; what if the cameras on our phones and laptops are always on?
think of the predictive power of that after just one or two generations
everything we watch - everything we read - every conversation we have and every web search we make - all of it while camera rolls a close up of our faces recording eye movement pupil dilations breathing rates and every expression of every moment - of every smart phone and laptop in the world - all of this crossed referenced further with current events
google becomes the new oracle only this one doesnt predict what will be done to you but rather can predict with 95% accuracy exactly what you are about to do
a predictive algorythm
now, do you want to take the red pill or the blue pill? lol
