Mental health is very important. It is very wise to have a good balance and a healthy balance of things in one's path.
I have chickens for eggs and meat and also for companionship. I manage the farm aspect of things like feed and water and the family takes care of breeds and colors and things like that. At our home, regardless of location at the moment, there are "chiks" almost always. The process of life is one of the many reasons we do what we do and how we do it. The chickens are a project my family has taken since we began home schooling our children. They are for our "Temple" or our home school base. We call it our Temple our school house. It feeds people including my own family. We do charge for eggs but its more a outreach than a money maker really. Eggs are for the elders of the areas and we hand deliver them to the door.
I love to see people glow when they see chicks. Its something HUMAN about seeing babies and well, ill let you decide if you like or not. I will be posting pictures of our baby chickens in chik form for fun and for mental health.
IF... you like, post your PET PIK here as often as you like. It healthy and if its your thing, join in. I do want to see y'alls animals and things that bring you joy. By posting and sharing MAYBE we can share joys as well.
So here we go...
Ps. These piks are from the farm. They are not stock photos so dont feel like they are. Every photo will be live withing days of posting, thats the fun part and the mental health part. If you like, tune in to see the growth. I wanna see your too...

This is Gonzo the silkie
I like him because he is not a morning person. Like me.
I am not sure of this Guinea fowl, of the color that is. She is supposed to be lavender but the store did sell us mystery birds in the mix so she may be white or a very light lavender. Time will out it.
Feel free to pm me on site or on Discord with questions or recommendations or what ever. Take some time to share a pik with one another if you like or just enjoy. Theyre chiks! It is our third year of chicks so heres to many more to come and enoy.

Our May the 4th ducklings will be ready to hatch soon. 28 days from the day of hatch so we will see what we have.
Besides the last few on top.- these are all duck eggs layed after May the 4th. Busy busy duck. when they start hatching I stop placing them in. So we will see what hatches soon.
Guinea fowl- Royal Purple. They are just getting their colored feathers.
Tinkerbell turns out is a Freisan Fowl. A smaller breed of bird not bantam just little and cute. We got them and they are so calm and cool and small its neat.
Hope this can bring a smile to your week. May the Force be with y'all

Any day now the ducks... these are all duck eggs will hatch. We discovered that one of the eggs set on the 4th was a twin and one on the 5th was a twin so they didnt make it past week 2. So, according to math -28 days from may the 4th is coming!!!!!
Any day now.
The baby Guinee's are big and old enough to join the flock.
Alice Coop-er isnt a chick but he likes to say hi...
Next week may bring chicks so we will see-
Happy seeking and may the Force be with y'all

Meet ANI the black footed Duck. A odd one to say the least. Normally Ancona ducks dont have all black feet just spots. Not this one.
Our Christmas babys are not babies any more. Our Christmas Roo is crowing and ready for the year
The ducks are hatching. We will call our ducks the 501st I think. Lots of interesting beak design's.

Our baby Australorps are for eggs and they are growing well. I think 3 months and they should be laying. White eggs for sale.
Our Guinea's are growing well and their colors are coming in. We left the wings on these birds this time and they seem to be doing just fine with every one else too. No complaints. Their "crowns" are coming in nicely.
Mango is a chick born on Christmas. He has most recently got his crow on! He is ready...
Christmas baby not babies. We expect them to lay any day now.
...and ducks... we have ducks now. More than we can count. lol 13 so far.

So, this is the season!
Our Black Roo, Alice Coop-er has had his first run. Our intention is to create a breed of Jedi themed chickens. We have a breed called Saphire Gem which lay blue eggs and green. Our goal and what has happened is that we got a breed of chickens that are darker than normal, Alice C. being dark in plumage not in attitude. For the most part it has worked. I feel like little Annikin when he stated in the cock pit of pod racer,, "Its working, its working!"
More chik piks to come
