Walk for Charity

I like to run/walk/hike and often turn those interests into fund-raising efforts. Since so many of those events turned into virtual races with the pandemic, I started running with Run Across America (https://nationwiderun.org/).

As Mike Barks pointed out in the Jedi CAN Facebook page, that particular effort is not applicable to the international community; so he suggested the Charity Miles app (https://charitymiles.org/). I'm finding that the integration with my FitBit through Strava is not as smooth, but I can use the app on my "smart" phone for any GPS-based activity that I want to record for charity.

There is a JediCAN team in Charity Miles if you want to join in and raise some money for your favorite charities.

I do wish that the Red Cross was one of the charities that you can support, but I can donate to them through Amazon Smile.

I am really hoping people will consider joining us. It doesn't cost the walker anything, unlike many of the charity races. You just have to do your cardio workouts as usual.

I do LOTS of cardio.. I think I might get on board with this.

I had Charity Miles once downloaded on my phone but I didn’t really use it and forgot about it, thanks for the reminder! The JediCAN group sounds like a fun community.

Reminder, you can pick the charity your efforts support, which is unusual for these sorts of events/apps.
