Rain

The Spring rains have made it here to Central Illinois....

Basement floodings, roads flooding, soggy yards, stuck back inside after being able to be outside for a few weeks now....

Yuck...

But a necessary "evil", lol...

We need the rain! With little snow this last season, we haven't had the moisture for the plantlife...

Throughout our lives, and even at times it seems, daily... A little rain falls, sometimes, it feels like a thunderstorm, a tornado, a hurricane...

But its necessary... These trials and tribulations make us better, and stronger.... They help us to grow, mentally, as well as physically....

You can't build your physical body, without exercise, constant exercise... Pushing your physical self, to improve and make healthier....

The same can be said of your mental self...

It requires constant use to maintain quick responses, and flexibility... Testing it, pushing it to make it better....

I've been told that brain inactivity can be linked to alzheimers disease, and that by doing crosswords, and mental exercises can help to ward it off....

So, while as you get challenged mentally, remember, this is how you grow, mentally...

Right now, both in this Temple, in your physical life, at your work, people are going to challenge you, your beliefs...

We are here, a collection of similar people, with similar thoughts.. And when we are able to converse with a person of a different opinion, we should embrace this opportunity to expand our mental prowness...

Seek to understand...

It doesn't mean you have to agree... Many times, we won't...

If both parties are fully entrenched in their ideas, beliefs and values, then you just have to agree, to disagree....

But, this might be only in one area of life in which there is disagreement... In every other area, there might be total agreement...

And, don't let a discussion deteriorate to the point anyone is mad, reason goes out the window at that point....

Just as in the physical world, walk away... Its only a conversation...;)

Its only a little rain... It stops soon enough....

Have a good week....

May the Force be with You...

Thank you for the sermon, Master Jestor

Seriously, that was enjoyable to read and good food for thought to stimulate that mental activity we should all be doing.

The French love to complain, especially about the rain. In fact, it doesn't even have to rain, suffice it to be a be cloudy, and one is sure to hear : "Il ne fait pas beau." or yet : "Quel temps de m***e !" My typical response is simply a smile and a suggestion that "il ne fait pas mauvais, il pleut" (It is not bad weather, it is raining[or whatever it is doing]).

All weather is nice -- sun, rain, snow, fog, earthquakes and volcanos. Wisdom allows us to appreciate their global, creative beauty.

I love the emphasis this particular Jedi community places on intellectuality. I've always believed that knowledge enhances our view of the world! I'm glad I've found a spiritual home that cares so much about intellectual well being.

I'm noticing this from the Initiate and Apprentice programs, and while I've always read quite a bit, I'm surprised at the benefits from putting a bit more effort into thinking about things structurally!! Thanks for the sermon.

I should've read this a bit earlier. It's exactly what I've needed to hear.
    Thank you Master Jestor.

Poor Jestor, can't watch Golden Finch's while it rains, in the words of the late great Brandon Lee, "It can't rain all the time".
Your sermon was nice Jestor, I enjoyed it even though I'm allmost a week late reading it, thank you...
