As far as I can remember it's not the post topic so much, outside of Ad Hacking/Solicitation, Porn and things that are mentioned in the Terms of Service, as well as something going off the rails, way off-topic that is beyond discussion, Debate but goes into name-calling, etc.

There's lots of Non-Jedi related topics that are in the forums and lots that have had them derailed at some point.

It's really not that hard to have discussions that are worthwhile as well as information giving.

Thank you all for your answers

I made this thread out of a knee jerk reaction not the best reason I know but it was also because I felt people sometimes have their own agenda here and issues can get twisted.

There are rules here and even I admit there may be topics that probably aren't suitable for a Temple forum. But as Carlos mentioned you have personal journals.

I don't think anyone here should not say something out of fear of being banned or censored. It's rare I see anything censored and banning doesn't happen because of saying one thing, at least as far as I have seen in the last six years. Its a process, sometimes a slow one.

However if you do post here then people will respond and I say this in response to forceuser, learning to debate or hold a conversation with others who may have wildly different opinions and perspectives than your own personal one is a skill that you develop here and the key is not to see what they write from your emotions but to step back and listen before responding. Stops the knee jerk reaction :)

I'm pretty sure the deleted post made it explicit that the thread was about banned members and made the clear distinction about not being deceased or departed members... a relevant exclusion from the screenshot on the other page.

Edit: darn it, Adder beat me to it, lol. Once again foiled by my own verbosity!

Ive said before that i think there should be a “banned” thread where the admins who do the banning make a brief explanation to the community that it happened and why. For example, im still not exactly clear why Arisaig was banned (something about a threat of legal action, iirc) and i have absolutely no idea whatsoever why Kohadre was. Having experienced somewhat arbitrary bannings myself, the lack of explanation opens the door to suspicion.

However, the topic that was removed was not an inquiry into the rationale used to determine banning or the appropriateness of any specific ban; it was intended as a sort of memorial to
members who were banned. I am mostly against the use of banning for two reasons;

1: How many people who make an introduction come back and make a second post? How many people who begin a journal in any given month are still posting after one year? I think we should be open to the relatively few people who actually stick around.
2: Also, i believe that Jedi should learn how to deal with people they dont like rather than how to beg the authorities to protect them. This is the internet, no one here is forced to read anyone elses posts. No one is required to interact with anyone else. If we cant regulate our own emotions and behaviors in this context, how on earth do we justify believing that what we do here has ANY benefit on our personalities which translate into the IRL experience?
That being said, there are rules and lines that have to be drawn and when theyre drawn, they need to be respected. A thread intended to dig up the dirt of banned members is likely to cause far more trouble than its worth.

People are complicated.

The reason why I made the thread was not to stir the pot . I had a few people I called friends that was deleted . I just wanted to make a nice non arguing thread to remember and share all the good times we had . In no way was I trying to get people riled up and start / bring up the reason why they were banned . Solely as a memorial thread / remember all the good times we had not the bad .

I think i may have found one in an unlikely place...the home page of this very website.

During a difficult conversation with a senior member of the clergy, my account was made temporarily inaccessible due to a change in password which I did NOT initiate.

I was accused of "spamming" after posting the temple doctrine as a response to questions and comments exchanged between member Br. John and I. Immediately thereafter i could not access my account.

It was only today, after resetting my password that i was able to log in again to ask this question.

Is Br. John correct in stating that posting the temple doctrine on the forum is a form of spamming? If so, is altering a new members password to prevent them from engaging in dialogue, without even a warning or notification, typically how this church responds to conflicting points of view?

I am posting this message in hopes of being educated on my conduct and how to better myself for the sake of the church as well as for personal growth and development. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Some of your friends are the same person registering multiple accounts. As for the others, if they are your friend don't you have their email, phone number, Facebook page, or something like that? I don't know how them not being on this site, along with the other billions of people who are not on this site, prevents you from communicating with them

Br. John is correct. When you post anything over and over and over ... it's SPAM. Especially the way you were doing it. You were not reading the threads and attacking, even after being asked for references and people explaining the rules of the debate. You used their hypothetical examples against them as though they had stated positions. Go back and read the threads. We all know what Jedi Believe says. Refer to Jedi Believe or a particular line or two from it and be done with it.

If you only needed to reset your password to respond, how is that keeping you from answering?

Well I consider more than a few people on here as a friend , i consider everyone my friend until said otherwise , but I don't have there other contact info . Since I been on here I haven't been using any of my other social media accounts . I haven't been on Twitter in months , a few weeks for Facebook , a long time since discord , and a few weeks since me getting on my Gmail . So this has been my primary social media source . I don't ask for peoples emails , phone numbers , FB ect because sometimes people here don't want others to know them even if they consider you there friend . If anyone wants to swap info I am all for it , but when I can't contact them anymore because I only knew them on here then it's a small problem .
