Doctrine Questionnaire

This one has more questions, I figured dividing everything makes it easier to figure out exactly what we want to see in the future of the document. Based on the results of this questionnaire, we'll see if what needs to be done. If we end up with a full document that has any differences from the current model, I'll send up the new proposal to the council and they'll vote on what they see. The poll will close in a month to give everyone enough time to look over the doctrine more thoroughly to make a decision.

Instead of arguing over "what's the point?", I'd prefer the space to be used to defend your position in such a way that you might be able to sway other members to the way you think it should look, discuss points of each document/area discussed (there's a question of whether or not you want to continue using both Jedi Codes, or just use one, or even to scrap them altogether, for example). Don't get angry if there are dissenting views. You have the ability to change your answers over the course of the month the polls are open, and your answers are tied to your email.

Let me reiterate: This doesn't mean things will change. The Council has to make the final decision- but you can get your voice heard by voicing it as a vote, and talking about it here.

For the Creed question, why no option to keep it as it is, in line with all other questions?

I'm rather surprised at the percentage of people (63.6%) which said "Why not all 3?"

I'm curious why this has such an enormous response. If you're in the all 3 camp, I'd love to hear why you find it better to have more added to the doctrine.

After some consideration and finally voting on this one, sorry was on a little break and am catching up. I am in the all three camp. I say this because it gives an open avenue of interpretation on the personal level. For example I try to live in the idea of the principals. However, one may find living by the maxims more attainable or fitting to their life. Meanwhile I see the Jedi teachings more as goals to use the guide lines set by the previous mentioned documents. But that's just my 2 cents.

Keep up the good work Alethea, eventually this will get flushed out.

It registers with an email, only one vote (which can be changed) per email. I'm hoping no one registers multiple emails just so they cansway the vote. But I have no control over that. there is a way for that (collecting emails), but I feel that’s just dishonest, so I made sure to opt out of that capability ^^.

So, what were the results?

I don’t have a computer on the weekends, and am teaching classes in the morning. I’ll post the results sometime tomorrow afternoon when I get everything organized with my job.

It looks like the "yet" version of the code is the only change with a plurality

Change it to what we talked about in the previous poll (Force isn't defined) 83.3%

Keep it as it is 38.5%

So, some clear decisions, much staying the same or receiving minor tweaks for sure, two decisions still to be made but plenty still somewhat grey.

As Rex mentions, most without an outright majority, only 1, 3, and 7 - what's the threshold for enacting a change? Over 50% of the vote? We didn't define this.

I didn't forget about this, just been working on a personal project the last 2 weeks that kept my attention.

I'm going to start up a topic about the Jedi Believe Section since there was a tie. The majority said they wanted to put in an intro regarding the Jedi Code. The shorter version was based on using one code while the longer version was if we stuck to 2 codes. Since the majority wanted to move forward with the "Yet" version of the code, when I submit the final draft I'll include the shorter intro for the council's consideration.
