Warning: Spoiler!
Thomas, 1:31 PM We have a few minutes before we get started...I'm not expecting very many participants today so we can take it as it comes. Sound off when you are here and ready.
Nakis, 1:31 PM Hi
Nakis, 1:32 PM We doing voice?
Thomas, 1:33 PM Glad to have you here, brother. We are going to be on chat for this one and see how it goes. I personally prefer voice, but some aren't fans. I'll rest the floor for about ten or so minutes for others to arrive, but should you have to hop off beforehand, just let me know and I'll take your updates.
Nakis, 1:34 PM I mean, everyone can read my updates then!
Nakis, 1:34 PM
Thomas, 1:34 PM Go for it, anything you want to share on what you've been working on recently or any upcoming projects that you might need assistance with?
Rosalyn, 1:37 PM Rest the floor?
Thomas, 1:37 PM "Give people a chance to show up" for ten minutes or so. Welcome, Ros.
Nakis, 1:42 PM RCTOTJO Update: 2 regularly meeting members. We are moving to create fliers pointing to the Facebook page while we sort out a location. On SIGs, I'd like to see that happen especially as it helps form connections and encourages members to network and develop their own way. I'm personally looking into Reiki as a personal thing and as a way to generate funds for RCTOTJO. I know there is interest in RCTOTJO for reiki as well. I think that the AP on Force might be a good catch all for the metaphysical, but I think people are a tad touchy about the more esoteric parts of it. I'm not even a fan of the more esoteric parts of reiki, but I can acknowledge some of what I can see when it benefits people. That being said, I think some people were hoping it would be more pureland (if I'm using the correct old term) SIG than anything else, and I think that would be important to have someone able to hit that side hard. The AP Force focus might be good with metaphysical attached to it as opposed to the direct focus. If anything I said here is incorrect, please disregard.
Thomas, 1:44 PM Thank you, Nakis,
Nakis, 1:45 PM Liturgical Days: I can't recall the exact focus on that, but I'm looking into doing routine live streams and some emphasis on those for RCTOTJO. On attendance, my main blocker from trolling the forums is trying to find a job, still, and trying to balance my life without going into the rabbit hole of negative discussions. I'm less likely to engage because it seems more rampant that trolling will happen and no progress will be made. Essentially, many cases for the things Steam brought up I am expecting a moderator to handle.
Rosalyn, 1:46 PM Refresh me on "things steam brought up?"
Thomas, 1:46 PM Alright, it’s been about ten minutes or so, I’ll begin by posting the agenda: 1.)Updates on Personal and Cooperative Ministries 2.) SIG reboot effort ideas 3.) AP Force Practice and what that looks like 4.) Liturgical Days 5.) Motivating Factors to increase Clergy Attendance/Barriers to provide input in monthly meetings. 6.) Interconnected Themed Sermons I'll sort of blend the meeting's introduction with an invitation to offer feedback on Nakis, thoughts:
Nakis, 1:46 PM For the themed sermons: The idea was if someone wanted to do a solid month of sermons and tie them together. A common Christian one is the armour of god, wherein several sermons focus on each part of the armour, and the last one ties it together. It might be a fun project, just an idea for someone to pursue.
Nakis, 1:47 PM Ros: Steam's issue with inactive clergy participation on the forums, the discussion before he left the social groups Rosalyn, 1:47 PM Ah ok
Nakis, 1:53 PM Thomas, I'll get you my sermon today in a bit, by the by. This convention threw me for a loop
Thomas, 1:53 PM There is a lot of information to process from there, shall we focus on any additional member updates and proceed from there? As for me, I've been working behind the veil with Nakis and a few others to promote clergy activity in serving members through the IP. My role has been on the far end by helping to provide the grading and feedback with students who have completed and are nearing completion. I also am hoping to create a presence within the Welcoming Party as well.
Thomas, 1:54 PM Perfect, thank you. I'll get it up as soon as I see it come through
Nakis, 1:54 PM I have to vanish back to the hospitality table and prep lunch. I'll check in later and look at the conversation.
Thomas, 2:02 PM Any more input for topic number one?
Nakis, 2:03 PM For me, that's it
Thomas, 2:06 PM Moving on: 2.) SIG reboot effort ideas Nakis has expressed his opinion on the matter as noted above. The floor is open for input on this topic at this time.
Thomas, 2:13 PM I would like to note that I align with what has already been stated. SIG support the various flavors of Jedi that our Temple supports. It might be good to reach out to the current position heads who front each of those sects and see how we could provide assistance.
Thomas, 2:14 PM Any additional inputs?
Nakis, 2:30 PM Roger on all that
Thomas, 2:30 PM Halfway through listening Ros, almost done with the first half. (reference point added to summarize Pastor's audio discussion)
**Pastor discussed placing extra emphasis on conducting live sermons and establishing communication channels. Pastor informed participants to use Clergy Secretary and Counsel Secretary to provide information to the two systems, respectively. Reaching out to the secretary allows for the proper use for the channel to be used to disseminate information.)
Nakis, 2:37 PM I can't listen to everything just yet, will respond as I can.
Thomas, 2:42 PM Thank you for all of the perspective, Pastor. To provide a more bite-size text-friendly version for Nakis, Ros does align with the liturgical days sermons and the idea for your last suggestion of the interconnected themed sermons. As for motivating factors, any brainstorming ideas would be appreciated and welcomingly received.
Nakis, 2:44 PM 1. What demotivates clergy? 2. What motivates clergy? 3. How do clergy feel useful? 4. How does clergy duties work and interfere with personal life? We should do a poll to find out more ideas
Thomas, 2:44 PM The only barrier that I could foresee with the interconnected themed sermon stems from a lower observed participation from members of the clergy. I've only received a few emails with sermons submissions and to have that level of communication would be a challenge.
Thomas, 2:44 PM It's definitely doable, but it would take some effort Rosalyn, 2:45 PM Well here's the issue I think with wanting people to be motivated to serve Rosalyn, 2:46 PM Motivation is internal. People can find any number of excuses 2 not do what needs doing
Rosalyn, 2:46 PM And people can you find any number of ways to do what you need to do Rosalyn, 2:46 PM It would be great to have all clergy be active Rosalyn, 2:46 PM Or even half Rosalyn, 2:47 PM But don't get me wrong we're doing a damn good job with who we do have Rosalyn, 2:47 PM Or I wouldn't be willing to put down the duties of essentially running the clergy Rosalyn, 2:47 PM I trust you all immensely. I'm willing to bet that this change will be good, will be empowering Thomas, 2:48 PM In terms of the census poll, I'm all on board to digging deeper into the how's, what's and why's to stir up encouragement and participation. If there are barriers, I'd like to know them so I can knock them down....with love of course. Thomas, 2:49 PM I'm optimistic that things will still continue to move forward as well.
Rosalyn, 2:49 PM Barrier 1
Rosalyn, 2:50 PM People who are working are getting a slap in the face because we're not doing enough
Rosalyn, 2:50 PM "Enough"
Thomas, 2:57 PM Yeah, I can see how that can start to suck...Is there anything in specific that I, or AP's push to help coordinate some of the workload to our more inactive dormant clergy members?
Thomas, 2:57 PM Posting weekly or monthly job boards for people to help volunteer for smaller projects or events...like what we do for sermons.
Rosalyn, 2:57 PM Get inactive people on teams
Rosalyn, 2:58 PM And yeah, a job board
Rosalyn, 2:58 PM Specifically for clergy
Thomas, 3:02 PM Consider that done. At the minimum, I think it would help to reduce the barriers between people knowing what tasks they could complete.
Nakis, 3:04 PM It also isolates needs
Rosalyn, 3:05 PM Great
Rosalyn, 3:06 PM Do you need a folder on forum or do you want to use a sticky post?
Nakis, 3:07 PM Forums for job boards would be good. It would allow requests to be put up and discussion month by month Thomas, 3:10 PM I could just use either. I know we are relatively small in numbers now so a sticky could suffice. I'm not sure how much we are moving at the current moment. Thomas, 3:10 PM A folder would look prettier, but I think I could just sticky it to the topic of one of our Clergy forums.
Rosalyn, 3:11 PM Do that for now
Rosalyn, 3:11 PM Let me know if things change
Thomas, 3:12 PM Okie dokie...Did anyone else have anything else that needed to be addressed?
Rosalyn, 3:12 PM Yes
Rosalyn, 3:13 PM Any objectionn to having minutes posted publically?
Thomas, 3:13 PM Nope, I've been getting requests for us to be more open with our members about what is being talked about by our members. I don't object to it.
Rosalyn, 3:14 PM Ok
Thomas, 3:27 PM Anything else?
Rosalyn, 3:32 PM No
Nakis, 3:34 PM I am gucci
Thomas, 3:35 PM Alright, I'll conclude the meeting here. For those that came, thank you for your input and as always, should you have any questions or additional information to share, my inbox is always open. Have a beautiful Saturday and stay tuned for the date of our next meeting.
