I'd just like to explain something about myself, to clear up any misunderstandings that may have arisen. For one I get quite distracted quite easily, especially when interacting with other people, and if there is no purpose to the activity we are engaging in, I just loose the plot quite quickly. Let me tell you the reasons for this:

I started off in life as very much a person that would work on my own projects; I would rather think about my computer and the things that I would do with it rather than other people. Even when playing chess, I would focus on the game and not the other person playing it. I think this is a sane way to live. Bu the main point I want to make is that I never gain an advantage over things being set up in a way that is against the rules. Take chess for example; I am fully aware that the chess board can only be set up in one particular way, and that any form of error with its configuration would ruin the balance of the game.

It seems that many other people that I know can gain a distinct advantage through games being played against the rules. They have tried and tested methods for doing things that are not by the book. And be assured, the board is always set up, but for some people that is not enough, they wish to set up the board wrongly to gain an advantage. This is not being paranoid: It is being wise.

To go back to my original point; I feel a lot safer and less anxious playing chess or building systems than socialising, and I will not get over confident while playing chess, no matter how much my opponent goads me.

To combine the two points I will say this: Chess is a game where one can not argue about the state of the board and what has gone before, but when he interacts with others, he cannot point out to them even how things are now, let alone how things got that way. Like I said, I get distracted quite easily, but I think you'll find that if you sit down with me and play chess that I can be a kind friend :)

P.S. I wouldn't like to play a game of chess where only my opponent is allowed to see the state of the board ;)
