Well I'm laptop-less again, I fought the virus and the virus won I guess. I was virus free for about a week or so and then I started the thing on friday night and got the blue screen stop code screen - 0x000007e (0xc0000005, 0x8516ce7a, 0xf79977b8, 0xf79974b4)ARGHHH...

I'm going to take it in pretty soon and have someone look at the thing...and if that doesn't work it will make a nifty traction aid the next time I get stuck in the snow :laugh:

For the time being I'm on line at work (sort of) and I do have my daughters desktop, but it's not the best solution. So if I'm not on as often this is why.

take pics of the traction carnage ...sounds like it would be fun to see

i haven't seen the dreaded blue screen in a very long time...not since windows millenium edition....

If I need to reformat the thing, is windows 7 a good way to go?

if your installing it to a clean hard drive i heard it's easier if u install vista or xp first then upgrade to 7....but i've also heard from others that its easier to do a clean install....personally i would do the clean install, less disk swapping and less downtime of your pc....

With cat-like reflexes and Indiana Jones cunning I was able to negotiate the catacombs that are my storage room. My eyes spotted, high upon a precarious ledge, the coveted Dell shipping carton, thought long lost by my colleagues. I risked life and limb as I stood one foot on our cooler of old, the other upon a forgotten coffee table of questionable structural integrity. I stretched out and grasped the prize. Later in my lab I carefully opened the vessel to find inside the holiest of holies – the gleaming gold and blue glare of the Dell program cd’s assaulted my vision. Upon running these precious relics my weakened and near death PC was revived by the awesome power of the Dell gods and is now on its way to a full recovery.
