The prevalence of tech in our decision making processes.

So much of our lives are impacted by technology, including our decisions. For example, suppose I wanted to buy a waterbottle from Amazon. I might have some things that may impact my choice: price, color, and size, but then, what dictates my ultimate decision? My selection is ultimately dependant on the options that are visible to me, curated, of course, by Amazon. That example is rather tame, but what about something like dating, choosing a place to live, or what job to get? All of these things are impacted by algorithms. Have algorithms short changed our critical thinking or improved it?
