Our reflection for April is Cowardice, yet Courage. This is a difficult topic to discuss, as it is something that we all struggle with at times. We all have moments when we feel afraid, and we all make choices that we later regret. But it is important to remember that even in our darkest moments, we still have the power to choose courage.

The Jedi Code teaches us that "there is no emotion, there is peace." This does not mean that we should never feel emotions, but rather that we should not let our emotions control us. When we feel afraid, we should not let that fear paralyze us. We should instead choose to act with courage, even if we are scared.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the strength to act in spite of fear. It is the willingness to stand up for what we believe in, even when it is difficult. It is the ability to face our fears head-on, and to overcome them.

Courage is not about being fearless. It is about being brave enough to do what is right, even when it is difficult. This means that sometimes you will have to step outside of your comfort zone and do things that scare you. But if you can do that, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

Courage is not about being perfect. It is about making mistakes and learning from them. Everyone makes mistakes, but it is the people who are willing to learn from their mistakes who are the most courageous. So, if you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up about it. Just learn from it and move on.

Courage is contagious. When you see someone else being courageous, it can inspire you to be courageous yourself. So, if you know someone who is struggling with fear, reach out to them and offer your support. You never know what kind of difference you might make in their life.

Courage is not easy, but it is always worth it. When we choose courage, we open ourselves up to new possibilities. We become stronger, more resilient, and more capable of overcoming any challenge that comes our way.

So, if you are feeling afraid today, I encourage you to choose courage. Choose to stand up for what you believe in, even when it is difficult. Choose to face your fears head-on, and to overcome them. Choose courage, and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

May you feel the presence of the Force for the Force is always with you!

This is a very pertinent topic for this day and age, as more and more things, situations, circumstances, etc., can seem to gain power to cloud our hearts. Yes, it's always important never to confuse Courage with "bravery" or "fearlessness" - I've always said that Courage is the power to do what is Right and True, **even in the face of** fear, terror, opposition... even being alone, as in being the only one to stand up for what is right. It can also mean the power to do the right thing, even if it be "unglamourous", or "bothersome", or looked upon as a "lowly" or "unsavoury" task.

This sermon is pretty-darned excellent, and it serves to bolster the importance of this virtue, Courage... which is the most important of all virtues, as without Courage, we might falter in all the others, when it may be "inconvenient" or "dangerous" to live them out.

Good on you! This is one of those sermons which needs to be seen by everyone! Thank you for this!

To me, fear is nothing more and nothing less than the unknown. We, as a species, evolved from our biological need to deal with a single emotion. Fear. We do this in one of two ways, the so-called fight or flight method. Here is where we break them down into sub-categories. Some fly from their fears by ignoring an issue, some choose the path of illicit drug use; the other method, fight can have both negative and positive connotations. Some take up arms and physically fight, some use their words and provide a voice for the voiceless. As for me, I have chosen to fight the darkness of ignorance (another concept that has, unfortunately, gotten a bit of an undeserved bad reputation) through the light of education. I went into education because I have a responsibility to the next generation to help light their path with knowledge and wisdom. I try to help teach them how to think, not what to think. How to look objectively at their past to best determine their futures.
That is my perspective, such as it is.
Thanks for a really thought provoking reflection on the month.

I find it amazing how accurate and exceptional The Force actually works. I am Jin Son and I just joined yesterday. Delving deeper into the TotJo pages, I came across this April sermon (I would use the term "accidentally" if there were such a thing). There is a challenge that I am working through and this sermon was right on time with not only answering my questions, but also validating why I must be...MUST BE courageous in what I may have to do. Many thanks for allowing The Force to flow through you to me! May The Force be with you all.
