A murder or rapist then?

Is that your answer ? She and all of us so far have answered for our own definitions. Is that your definition?

I think Kyrin is saying that the answer "A Jedi is what you want it to be" is open to some variance. One who holds that definition may want a murderer to be a Jedi. And, by that definition, these two could be reconcilable.

Perhaps we have to go deeper?

I'll play. :) A Jedi is a fictional character created by George Lucas from which I derive great inspiration to live my life in the study and service of what I know as The Force, preferably in the company of others who emulate the ideals embodied in the standard of dedication, selflessness and aid to the protection and reverence of all life that the Jedi symbolically represent.

A Jedi is not someone I identify and recognize by the card they carry or the title they claim, but rather by the virtues of their actions, behavior and wisdom, A Jedi is also not immune to hubris or spiritual pride, as their story teaches - thus my definition of what it means to be a Jedi stresses that I must avoid being imbalanced or simplistic, and seek the understanding of Truth by the application of reason, intuitive searching, and synthesis of multiple perspectives.

These definitions are all already so much better than Light and Dark. So. So much better.

If you prefer, and based on the other thread, a Jedi is one that should follow the code of the Kamikeedi.

The exercise is meant to be as direct and unambiguous as possible. What is the code of the Kamikeedi?

This is a great exercise! Let's see what I can put into words here...

A Jedi is intelligent yet wise. Intelligence being learned, having been schooled and absorbed education as it has been presented. Wise having an understanding of knowledge and practicality. Understanding that not all things are understood.

A Jedi is not self admonished. Being overly critical of one's self presents opportunity for self doubt and a need for protection. I feel this is where we take offense from. Accepting criticism of you from another is a much better way to learn and grow. Presenting a false perfect front does not make one perfect.

How's that for starters?
