This is one view you have often : is it your view personally? Nothing wrong with it at all. I know several people who share this if this is your view. Some of them are good friends.
There are many views that differ here . I personally have a balance myself I've worked over years. It's difficult but very worth the outcome. The yield is often the foucus of the practice for me. How about you ? What does this yield for you ?

I find it interesting that in the debate against balance you use elquilibrium. And when the universe reaches entropy won't it finally have reached balance? I agree with the random chaos of nature and the world. Things will always change and shift. On the cosmic scale we are purposeless specks. So the only meaning we have is what we give ourselves. Seeking personal balance and working for the good of others seems as good a goal as any.

Are you saying the enviroare you saying the environment was out of balance before the wolves were brought back? I guess we're screwed because 99 percent of all creatures that have ever existed are extinct. So how do we get balance now? As for the wall that is nothing more than action reaction. It's not balance or the forces should be equal and you should be able to punch through the wall as much as not.

Evolution is not balance.

The fact that I'm not behind bars, or dead in the ground proves your argument invalid, not only that, I have two Apprentices, each the epitome of their chosen paths. Considering where I came from, yeah, I'd call that quite the balancing act, waiting for the insults nonetheless...

Just because you have yet to experience any form of inner balance, (that's kinda sad) doesn't equate to it not being existant. This comes down to individual perception...

Must suck to think you have it all figured out...

@jlspinner, equilibrium and balance are different. Complete chaos has no counterpart in order. And yes the only meaning we can carve out of this life is a personal one for each of us. Sometimes that means others may suffer as a result. But we have to take care of ourselves first. Of course there are exceptions to this but generally it's true. When you go for that new job or promotion and are able to attain that goal you cause the suffering of another who tried for it but failed. Maybe he can't feed his family now. But ultimately he has 2 choices. Either learn from it or not. Not your issue, it's his. Life is not fair in this regard or balanced. It was not meant to be. Some win and some lose. Some idiots live to 100 and some brilliant people get cancer at 30. Those things don't matter though, no matter how much we try to justify them. What matters is what we did with the time we had.

What matters most is what we do with the time we have. Very true words Kyrin. Very true. And yes our most basic and primal desires are naturally selfish. Many of our decisions are for our benefit, this is a non argument. But the rest of what we do, what of those decisions?

I totally agree with what matters is what we do with the time we have - totally - yet doesn't our focus Kinna paint or determin how we react to things? If it's askewed or grouchy and non conformist to any tradition or focus will it yield anything worth planting littlenown fruiting? ( not arguing - actually discussing or attempting to- if you'll have me)
