Freaks (1932) - directed by Tod Browning. https://vimeo.com/64576339 There's no special effects. The special people are shown as they really are. If you're watching the wonderful Season 4 of American Horror Story you'll see where the idea came from.

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) with Gene Tierney, Rex Harrison and George Sanders. A love story with a remarkably enchanting score.

Rebecca (1940) - directed by Alfred Hitchcock with Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. Based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. A compelling and unusual ghost story because the ghost never appears.

I will forever be a fan of the first two Halloweentown movies, and Hocus Pocus. :silly:

The Paranormal Activity movies aren't bad either.

The Conjuring (2103) is an excellent film, if you're looking for something.

I, however, will probably be indulging in some Hammer Horror during Halloween!

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

Halloween is my favorite-favorite day of the year (I'm sure there must be others of you out there that feel the same!), and I am all about good (or so bad they're good) horror movies. Some great suggestions posted so far!

I have a number of go-to Halloween films (too many to list), but here are a few that I think will help put anyone in the Halloween mood. :)

Click on links to view movie trailers.

Pumpkinhead (1988) - Exquisitely creepy creature feature starring Lance Henriksen.

The Legend of Hell House (1973) - A group of ghost hunters find what they've been looking for in a spooky old mansion.

Poltergeist (1982) - Such a classic.

Candyman (1992) - Because Tony Todd and Clive Barker are awesome.

The Changeling (1980) - Yet another haunted house movie. This one complete with a séance.

The Skeleton Key (2005) - Kate Hudson battles spirits and hoodoo on a Louisiana plantation.

The Frighteners (1996) - Peter Jackson's comedic ghost adventure starring Michael J. Fox.

Ginger Snaps (2000) - Fun, unique werewolf flick with Katharine Isabelle.

Insidious (2010) - One of the few effectively chilling horror movies to have received a PG-13 rating.

Damien: Omen II (1978) - Because scary demon children are entertaining.

Drag Me to Hell (2009) - Gypsy curse. Yet another séance. You know, the standard stuff.

The Innkeepers (2011) & The House of the Devil (2009) - Two Ti West films that some of you might enjoy.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - Whatever you do, don't fall asleep.

and Scream (1996) - Still an amusing 2 hours of self-referential horror.

Ohh! I didn't think there was anybody else I would ever meet who knew about the Legend of Hell House! I watched it as a kid and had nightmares about it for weeks! :D
