That's interesting...although I've never experienced any of what they described that I can remember...with 1 exception....cev level 4....when I close my eyes in a darkened room I can "see" the room more clearly...I've experimented with it many times and found that I could navigate through the room better with my eyes closed then with them opened...I often wrote it off as simply my memory creating a visual image of the room and combining that image with physical memory...of course that never explained how I could navigate through rooms I seldom visit...

Another thought to ponder, when you look outside on a hot day don't you see blurred colors in the heat haze?...it can't be just me that sees them

I do, indeed! The eyes are a wonderful thing. I'm just saying that what we see around other humans may, or may not, be "auras".

I will continue to experiment, though, and see if I can develop the ability to feel others' energy.

Ah, my perspective of auras is that they are the resulting emission of energy...as whytehorse pointed out humans are a mass of bioenergy....energy gives off heat, heat can be seen (just like the heat energy released as a haze)....how much is released and what combination varies from person to person, moment to moment....I've done lots of experiments with multimeters...there's a thread deep in the forums with some of my results...really fun and fascinating stuff....

Ahh a topic that I know a little bit on. :)

Being a Vampyre and an Empath I have the ability to not only feel peoples emotions (As was previously stated, peoples Aura's are reflective of their current Emotional state.) but I can see them too. For me the colors vary on the person. They are never the same from one person to the next and one emotion to the next. So I don't look for the color. I feel what they are feeling and I lock onto that feeling, this is the Empath side. After I locked onto the emotion, I can choose to feed off the aura they are putting out, which is the Vampyre side. I don't 'drain' a person from their personal energy. I absorb the energy/aura they put off. They have already released it, therefore it is not personally attacking them.

There are other Vampyres who would drain energy from the person because it is a more pure form of energy, I have no need for this and with my Light side, I choose not to harm anyone is such a manner. Besides, going to a concert, a sporting event, marriage, funeral anything that creates high emotion creates massive aura's. I can get drunk off of absorbing the energies being put out.

To go down more of the Magick essence of this, since I am Pagan, many believe that people have aura's of specific colors that are always with them and each color means something different. I do not believe this because people choose the color of their emotions. Some who are upset would use yellow or red or orange or black or grey. There are so many variences on the colors people connect to their own emotions with. Therefore I do not try to define the color just by seeing it. I define the emotion and then when I see the color I know what that color represents for that person.

As for the 'way' to see them, the best way I can say to do it is be around people who are usually high in emotion and start working to define their emotion. Once you can pinpoint the emotion, resonate with it and picture in your minds eye what you feel coming off of them. Many people relate to vibrations the easiest. Regardless of what you can relate to, start to feel the energy of their emotions washing over you. Try to feel if it is thick like fog or thin like a veil of mist. If its hot or cold or just warm. When you are able to feel it long enough, you can watch them and start to see the energy moving through and out of them.

This is also a really good healing technique for those who want to know. Being able to see and feel the flow of their emotions you can change that flow and focus on a specific part that needs the energy for healing or if they are feeling "out of balance" and you know how their energy normally flows and see that it is not flowing normally or looks somewhat distorted, you can help even out the flow and get them rebalanced.

I hope this helps even though I jumped around here and there.

There are so many different theories that go with it.

* The Aura is spiky instead of a smooth shield
* The Aura is egg shaped and rises up high over head
* The Aura has a funnel at the top of the head to which you channel energy
* The Aura can have cracks and breaks when you are hurt, unhealthy, have dirty emotions and thoughts...
* Running your hands over the Aura can heal these breaks

In the end I defer to science on this one. As you know...I'm much more skeptical then you ;) lol. As others said. Everyone emits an electro magnetic field off them and the energy they produce by movement and friction between all those scientific molecules and bleh bleh bleh.....It in return emits an "Aura" which are the by product of natural energy and not so much mystical :-p

Energy is real we just need to be more sensitive to feel it. Some are, some arn't, some can be.

To touch the energy is to touch the Force. This is where sensitivity to such things comes into play when trying to learn how to use and be one with the Force.

I get floaters and optical spots on my eyes sometimes so I know that what I'm seeing isn't that. I don't know if this is related but my eyes are sensitive to light, probably because they have very light pigment. I have trouble seeing in full direct sunlight but my friends/family who have dark eye pigment can see just fine.

I'm just guessing here but I saw an article recently about how the lord of the rings crew were able to make Gollum look so real. It was because light actually passes through the skin and some is absorbed while some is reflected. If you hold your hand over a bright light source you'll see some of the insides and it looks all pink.

Maybe people who see auras by messing with their eye focus are seeing under the skin? I believe it's called subsurface scattering

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.
