Other than desire, I would guess... I desire to be polite, but not for respect or power,just because it makes the world gel, and day go smoother....

I gain nothing by holding the door for someone and wishing them a nice day...

You can tell people to suck it up, that they are only words, and choose to speak like you like, and then you can also miss out on great conversations, and intelligent people, who just dont really want to be around you... That's fine, you are no worse off, and neither are they...

When someone tells you, "you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and you point out that that is not necessarily true, you are correct...

However, we are not flies, and as an former exterminator, it takes a combination of baits to attract your target...

It still looks like personal gain to me.

By my desire to improve myself, this is a facet of me that I wish to improve...

My bliss is the journey of my self improvement...

I mean that you make it your life/way to be what other people prefer you to be, instead of being what you must be. Wants over necessities.

I don't do it for other people, lol, I do it for myself, because that's what I think is a positive change... A good characteristic...
