Structure of new IP

The first task is to create a list of topics/sections that will make up the IP. We can then fill in the lessons for each section later.

What sort of things would you like to see in the IP?

My first thoughts:

- Jediism
- World Faiths
- Campbell Lectures (as the inspiration for SW and Jediism)
- Critical Thinking (that's from Akkarin!)
- Metaphysics (The Field, etc)
- Meditation
- Emotions
- The Doctrine of the Temple

shoudl probably put world faiths at or near the end.. It's a bit of a "compare what you were told in the previous lessons with other religions" type of exercise.

I kind of agree but at the same time, the Campbell lecture draw a lot on different faiths so I also think that it works well where Mark has it.

Would you be getting rid of the Alan Watts book? Or does it fall into one of those sections?

I really like the way Mark Anjuu has it ordered.

The only question I would have is which would come first (world faiths) or (the Campbell lectures).
If one is first it could open the view to the other.

But like I said, I do like the order he places them in his prior responce to this thread.

I actually didn't think about the order at all, I was just throwing suggestions out there! We need to finalise a list of topics and the lessons within them before looking at ordering.

V, did you mean Watt's "The Book" (as opposed to his one on meditation)? I personally like it a lot and would probably put it under metaphysics?

Ah, yes I did, I just wondered because you mentioned the Campbell lectures by name but not The Book! Whenever the Initiate's Programme comes up in chat people seem to be mainly divided into two 'camps' - those who think the Campbell is the best bit, and those who think 'The Book' by Alan Watts is the best bit. So I definitely think that it should remain in there somewhere.

I realize what you are saying, what to include in the lessons...

But perhaps we should include some order to it as well...

I like the "etiquette and manners" part, as it reminds people to be polite in posting anywhere on the site...

SO, order wise I would suggest:

- Personal tools (its what we are calling the etiquette part, maybe we can expand it?)
- Critical Thinking (not sure exactly what this entails, but, probably ought to be here, I could be wrong..
- Campbell Lectures (as the inspiration for SW and Jediism) This ties together many faiths and ideas common to more than just SW and Jediism
- World Faiths (comparison of the different ideaologies)
- Jediism (then Jediism compared to the other faiths...)
- The Doctrine of the Temple (Jediism as seen by us)
- Metaphysics (The Field, etc)
- Meditation
- Emotions

Just thinking out loud...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

personal tools is integrated in the intro in my current version of the IP, I don't really consider it an exercise/lesson.

- Intro (with personal tools and the like, pointers to how to use the site as sometimes people dont know)
- Merge Campbell and religions stuff since it's related. keep it as a simple, introduction to comparative relgion type of course.
- Critical Thinking ( see this thread ) (maybe include stuff on freethinking? obviously related) (also things to to with empiricism rationalism, etc)
- Philosophy and Metaphysics (drop mctaggart she's quack)
- Jediism, history, classic texts, various beliefs(This will reuse things learned in the metaphysics lesson), totjo doctrine, etc
- Meditation, Emotions, how to be a better Jedi type of thing.

i'd like to see the book i suggested a while back added to the ip...nick lane's: power, sex, suicide; mitochondria and the meaning of life...probably put it in a science type category...and add a few other biology, sociology, psychology books as well...quantum science.....that way we cover spiritual, intellectual, and physical sciences....
