Recipe: Unsweetened apple sauce

Since someone mentioned recipes here before... I made this one today. It's great for an accompaniment to meat, feeding small children (or so I hear), or using in the place of sugar when in baking for healthier treats (which is why I made it).

If you've got some apples which are not so crunchy any more they work great for this.

Using 1.4ish kilos of sweet apples, peel and slice the apples.

Add to a saucepan over the hob along with 120 ml of water.

Heat on a medium heat for about 20 minutes. Depending on your oven it may take slightly less but I found my apples most tender at 20 minutes.

Put it all in a blender and whizz until you've got a slightly lumpy texture.

Ta da! Apple sauce, no extra sugar.
