We cannot speak of the Tenants at this time, while we have ours, the Sith (UJSO) Tenants are their own and are not accessable in open Forum. Since there are no open Sith members left here we have no way of knowing exactly what they have adopted. And to just pull something of the net would only be an assumption. If they should choose to share them in the future we can compare the two at that time.
Understand that this thread will be completely one-sided without the input of a current practicing Sith member.
Also we have touched on this subject before: Side by Side Comparison of the Codes and Tenants Posted by Rev. Justice - 2007/06/16
So what do the Sith Believe?
Sith Code
Peace is a lie There is only passion Through passion I gain strength Through strength I gain power Through power I gain victory Through victory my chains are broken The Force shall set me free
The Orthodox Jedi Code
There is no Emotion; There is Peace. There is no Ignorance; There is Knowledge. There is no Passion; There is Serenity. There is no Chaos: There is Harmony. There is no Death; There is the Force.
The two codes, obviously, contradict each other, just as do light and dark, black and white just as they were designed in order to make a story point in a moviethe good guys and the bad guys, cowboys in black hats vs. John Wayne in his white hat on this white horse.
However, I doubt that anyone is willing to take these codes to their extremes. The Jedi code is of course, the most desirable of the two in any case. To argue against that is foolish. An imagine the Sith code being followed to the letter by everyone, Chaos.
While I was a Sith, I experienced a very calm environment, everything was voted on by its members and the site and chat was devoid of conflict. The code while present and its elements discussed in forum, was not apparent between the members. That is what I experienced first hand.
I am not a Sith because of their code, or more to the point that I swore an oath to follow the code. And I believe it is not something that can be followed in our society, to follow the code as stated one would be on constant guard. Being a complete ass to everyone at all times will only bring you hardship and dispair. If I continued to follow my Sith oath and thus the Sith code, it would require me to constantly break my vow to get along in the world. That was something I wasnt prepared to do. Why take a vow if its impossible to keep.
The Jedi code on the other hand shouldnt bring you anything but happiness, something to reach for. I believe in its present form its practicality in our insane world is limited, but I can follow the Jedi code with only slight modifications.
Maybe off topic here, my biggest hang-ups with our current course are;
What of the times when a light action is inadequate? Can a Light Jedi use a dark solution that is against his/her code? Is there a clause somewhere that allows a deviation from the code? Absolution? A Cart Blanche? But This applies to the Sith as well, can a darksider take a light action and not be marked as weak? Is there really any difference in Force followers? And why as humans do we need to pick any sides, does there really need to be an us and them?
This is the problem with codes _base_d on fiction being applied to our real world. They were meant to be absolutes to clearly define two contrasting groups, ideals, peoples for the sake of story-telling.
Is there really any difference in Force followers? And why as humans do we need to pick any sides, does there need to be an us and them?
We all believe in the force, everything else, names, robes, lightsabers, organizations, are items created from within Mr. Lucass head to tell a wonderful story.
Where does the individual Force follower draw the line and drop the fictional elements from ones path?
Drop all the fiction and there remains one thing - the force.
